How Carbon Offsetting Can Work in Your Hair Salon

We want to help your hairdressing salon to be as sustainable as possible, and once you've gotten started with reducing waste, recycling and considering your water and energy usage, carbon offsetting could be a good next step! Keep reading to learn more...

What is Carbon Offsetting?

Carbon Offsetting is a process where your businesses carbon footprint is compensated for elsewhere, through supporting schemes that reduce or capture carbon, to balance out your CO2 usage. This could be through tree planting and reforestation, renewable energy schemes, or community projects like efficient cooking stoves.

Not all Carbon Offsetting projects are created equal, so it’s important to look for projects that are verified and accredited by industry leaders like the UN, VERRA and The Gold Standard.

Here's more about Carbon Offsetting from Chantelle, owner of Eco Offset:

What Role Can Carbon Offsetting Play in Your Hair Salon?

Carbon Neutral Salon

Whilst you can take important steps to reduce your hair salon’s carbon footprint (recycling hair and metals, for one!), it’s impossible to completely reduce all your carbon emissions whilst running your hairdressing business. That’s where Carbon Offsetting comes in, to balance out the necessary and unavoidable emissions within your Salon.

It shows your clients how you’re reducing your environmental impact in a verifiable way, which you can market on your social media channels and website as well as knowing that you’re doing as much as you can to reduce your business’ carbon footprint.

How it Works

We are proud to partner with Eco Offset to provide a solution for salons, stylists and freelancers who are looking to go the extra mile and offset their carbon emissions.

Offset and Reduce

Starting at £20 per stylist, you can offset yourself or your whole salon. Chantelle at Eco Offset will provide you with a certificate showing that you’ve offset your carbon emissions, as well as sharing which projects you have supported. This is based on an average carbon footprint of 2 tonnes of CO2e for each team member, however Chantelle is able to create bespoke carbon calculations for your salon.

Offsetting is just one of the ways in which you can reduce your environmental impact. Alongside your GSC recycling initiatives, Eco Offset will send you our top ten tips to reduce your carbon footprint, to help you on your way!
