None of your salon waste should go to landfill!
We can help you become a zero-to-landfill salon with our Salon Recycling Services (across the UK and Ireland).
Our specialist salon recycling system allows in hair, foil and colour tubes however we can facilitate all salon waste streams.
We use hair to clean up oil spills. We generate clean energy using discarded PPE. We even compost your salon towels!
The three most common ways we handle salon waste is through recycling, recovery and composting.
Salon Recycling FAQs
Why Green Salon Collective?
Green Salon Collective helps UK & Ireland salons cut landfill by providing a specialist salon waste recycling program designed for hair and beauty waste that typical kerbside systems won’t handle well. Instead of “general recycling”, you get a salon-specific system for hair recycling, used foil recycling, colour tube recycling (and other supported streams), plus practical guidance to set it up without disrupting service.
How can I start recycling?
Start in three steps:
- Book a call to confirm fit and get guidance on your setup
- Purchase a starter kit to organise your waste streams in-salon
- When your box is full, book a recycling collection and send your returns box back
This creates a simple, repeatable process that works for busy salons.
What are Green Fees?
A Green Fee (sometimes called an eco fee or sustainability fee) is an optional £1–£2 (or euro) charge per visit that salons add to help fund responsible waste recycling. In practice, it’s a simple way to make salon recycling cost-neutral (and in many cases profitable), while clearly showing clients where the money goes.
Do I need to clean foil, colour tubes or metals?
No. You do not need to clean foil/colour tubes. Put used foils/metals straight into the separation bags from your starter kit (and compress foils when packing to maximise box capacity).
Can we get some training on how to use everything?
Yes. GSC can provide Zoom training for your team, and you’ll also get guidance during your welcome call plus instructions in your starter kit, useful for onboarding new staff and keeping sorting consistent!
